Reimagining Music Monetisation Through Web3

Key Insights & Project Scope
As Head of Design, I led all aspects of design, user experience, and brand integration for both mobile and web platforms. My focus was to ensure that the SonX app was not only visually cohesive but also functionally intuitive, making it easy for musicians to adopt while maximising engagement and revenue potential.
I worked closely with engineering, marketing, and product teams to:
✅ Develop a scalable Design System ensuring consistency across iOS, Android, and web
✅ Create high-fidelity prototypes to showcase features for investors and artists
✅ Optimise UX flows based on user testing and data-driven insights
✅ Align brand and product design for a unified, recognizable experience
✅ Produce promotional materials that educated artists on SonX’s benefits

Design System: Scaling Across Platforms
One of the biggest challenges was managing design across both Android and iOS, while maintaining uniformity across different screen sizes and interaction models. I built a comprehensive Design System in Figma, leveraging:
🎨 Component-based structure for efficient iteration and updates
🌗 Dark & Light Mode adaptations for better user accessibility
📱 Adaptive typography & UI elements for Android/iOS variations
🔄 Over 2,000 assets managed to prevent inconsistencies
This single source of truth streamlined development, reduced inconsistencies, and allowed the product to scale efficiently as we expanded features.

Functional Prototypes: Driving Adoption
To educate artists and investors on SonX’s capabilities, I created interactive prototypes using Figma & Adobe After Effects. These were used for:
🎬 Marketing & investor pitches to highlight key user flows
🎶 Artist onboarding to demonstrate the platform’s familiar experience
📲 User testing to refine interactions before development
By showing real-world use cases, these prototypes played a crucial role in securing artist adoption and shaping the final product.
Shifting the Company Focus Toward Design
SonX was initially built with a function-first approach, but I drove a shift toward user-centered design, ensuring that usability and aesthetics enhanced product adoption. This included:
